When Life Feels Heavy and Clarity Feels Out of Reach…

You’ve been holding it together, but it’s starting to feel like too much. The anxiety, the overthinking, the stress—it’s exhausting.

Maybe you’re feeling stuck in patterns you can’t seem to break, or life transitions have left you feeling unsteady. You know you need something to shift, but you’re not sure where to begin.

That’s where we come in.

Therapy That Moves You Forward

At Alcova Therapy, we help you get unstuck not just by listening, but by working with you to understand the patterns holding you back and giving you tools to move forward. We use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other evidence-based approaches to help you shift your relationship with your thoughts, reconnect to your values, and start building a life that feels more like your own.

ACT is not about getting rid of difficult emotions, but learning how to hold them differently so they no longer run your life. Together, we help you identify what truly matters to you and build the skills to move toward those things, even when uncertainty or discomfort shows up. It is both practical and meaningful work that helps you to create lasting change in how you show up for yourself and your life.

  • If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or like life just feels harder than it should, therapy can help. If you’re mostly OK but dealing with a particularly stressful situation, a caring therapist who isn’t involved in your life can help you through it. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit—therapy is for anyone wanting support, clarity, or lasting change.

  • We’ll absolutely listen, but our work together is about much more than that. It starts with listening to you deeply, and then we work to help you understand your inner world, identify patterns that are keeping you stuck, and move in the direction of meaningful change. If you feel like we’re “just listening” and aren’t noticing improvement, we definitely want to know!

  • Absolutely! You don’t need to have it all figured out before you come in; in fact, if you did you probably wouldn’t need therapy! Often therapy starts with simply untangling the confusion and helping you gain clarity about what’s really going on.

  • Our first session is typically 90 minutes and is a chance for you to share what’s been going on, what you hope to get out of therapy, and for us to begin getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what therapy might look like for you and set a pace that feels right.

  • It depends on your goals and what you are working through. Some clients feel relief after just a few sessions, while others find ongoing therapy helpful for deeper, lasting change. We’ll work together to find the approach that best fits your needs, and we’ll check in often about how things are feeling.

  • That’s completely normal. We know therapy is vulnerable, and we are committed to creating a space where you feel safe, supported, and never judged. You get to go at your own pace. Often, helping you understand the blocks to opening up and move through them is a large part of our work.
